Duneland Dynamics

Visit the PoCo Muse on Thursday, April 6 at 7p to hear from Kenneth J. Schoon, Professor Emeritus of Science Education, Indiana University Northwest. Schoon's presentation, "Duneland Dynamics" integrates dozens of colorful scenes of today’s Indiana Dunes along with a description of their ecological importance and stories from yesteryear. Topics include fur trading and a small French “fort,” our Revolutionary War skirmish, hermits, developers and scams, railroads and Lincolns’ Duneland funeral, research and the birth of American ecology, efforts to save the dunes amid efforts to industrialize, flying, fishing, residing, and restoration. After the program, copies of Dr. Schoon’s new book, Dreams of Duneland, will be available for purchase.
